Preston Bridge Commerative Game - this Sunday 3.15pm Luketina
Hi everybody,
We have pleasure in hosting the commerative Preston Bridge game this season between our Year 12 team and Marist at Luketina at 3.15pm.
This is the annual event that honours Preston Bridge, a member of both junior footy clubs and student at Churchlands Senior High School who died in February 2013 following his school ball after party. This was as a result of having taken just one tab of synthetic LSD.
Preston’s father, Rod Bridge has set up a non-for-profit organisation called Side Effect to educate young people about the dangers of not knowing what is contained in illicit drugs. Further information can be found here http://sideffect.org.au/
Prior to the start of the game both sides will line up for a minute’s silence to honour Preston. Players will wear black armbands.
After the game our club will host the Marist players and supporters and an award will be given to the best player.
As this is a special game with a very important message it would be terrific to see as many people there as possible to watch what should be a great game and to support the boys. A good way to gently educate our younger players and siblings also about what can and does happen with illicit drugs.
There will be a sausage sizzle and the canteen is open as usual. We hope to see you there for a great game of football.
Go Cats!
