Welcome to Wembley Downs Junior Football Club

2024 promises to be another great year for the Wembley Downs Junior Football Club with some exciting developments occurring across our operations

New Lights for the Cattery (Luketina Park), work is commencing now on lighting up our playing pitch ready for season launch
The club has appointed a director of coaching, Jeremy Barnard, to help both players and coaches alike in their development.
- Jeremy Barnard is an East Perth life member and Hale of Famer, whose 221 games included 3 WAFL premierships. After hanging up the boots, Jeremy transitioned to coaching with roles at Melbourne club Strathmore before moving on to VFL clubs Sandringham and Williamstown and most recently completing five years as head coach at WAFL club East Perth.

In conjunction with the Board and the Football subcommittee, there has been ongoing development to roll out the following initiatives throughout the season:
- Coaching curriculum
- Cats trademark, values, behaviours and expectations
- Cats game plan book
- Individual development plans

In response to feedback from the 2023 survey post season undertaken post season, new additions to the football program will include:
- Specialist coach education sessions
- Earlier Preseason training sessions from mid-Feb to help with player development.
- A second optional training night through the season for years 7 to 12.
